tropical morning smoothie
i felt a little tropical this morning...so i created a mango pineapple breakfast smoothie from alejandro junger's clean but added the smoothie elements that i love from revive...whey protein powder and a greens powder...that extra serving of proteins and greens in the morning is exactly what i need to become a morning person...
ingredients/supplies:
-1 cup frozen (or fresh) organic mango chunks
-1/2 cup frozen (or fresh) organic pineapple chunks
-1 1/2 cups of fresh coconut milk (you can buy this in a box at whole foods as well...just make sure to get the one with no sugar added)
-1 serving or 3-4 tablespoons vanilla or plain whey protein powder
-1 serving or 2 teaspoons greens powder (for the brands i use...check out the smoothie recipe from a few months back)
-3-4 ice cubes if needed (if you are using frozen fruit...you probably will not need to add ice)
-a blender and measuring cups
prepping/chopping/mixing:
prep:
-measure out all ingredients and place them together in the blender
mix:
-blend until rich and smooth
enjoy!
morning smoothie
i read a book by dr. frank lipman called spent, now called revive. my husband and i changed our morning routine by making smoothies for breakfast and have never looked back. we both feel so much better for it....all you need is a blender and the ingredients below.
blueberry avocado smoothie (recipe from revive):
1 cup frozen organic blueberries
1/4 avocado
1 cup coconut water
juice of 1/2 a lime
1 tablespoon of agave syrup
1 serving or 3-4 tablespoons vanilla or plain whey protein powder
1 serving or 2 teaspoons greens powder
4 ice cubes
i have never added the agave or the ice to this shake and still find it delicious and sweet. coconut water is not always in our home and, on those mornings, i substitute water and it is still yummy. we use whey to go as our whey powder and green vibrance as our greens power, but any brand that your prefer works...just make sure that there is no added sugar listed in the ingredients of the whey protein powder.
the recipe is easy to double if you are making more than one. it is the perfect breakfast for people who have limited time to in the morning and need to have a breakfast on the go.
enjoy!
